In his thesis, titled Systematic Biases in Weak Lensing Cosmology with the Dark Energy Survey, Samuroff built computer simulations to model the shapes of galaxies captured by the Dark Energy Camera, which was built by Fermilab and is located at an observatory on a Chilean mountaintop. Although the Collider Detector at Fermilab experiment representing 63 institutions in 15 countries was no longer collecting new data when Toback assumed his leadership role on June 1, 2014, its impact lives on in its analysis, which recently resulted in the collaborations landmark 700th paper published in Physical Review D and shedding CERN scientist Sergey Antipov, an alumnus of the Fermilab Accelerator Ph.
D. program, completed his 2017 doctoral thesis based on research he completed at Fermilab, specifically on circular highintensity particle accelerators.
